Renata Tassinari
Bio
Born in São Paulo, 1958. Renata Tassinari graduated in Fine Arts at the Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP) in 1980. Over the past years though, Tassinari’s paintings became a fertile field for research and innovations. The artist paints over an acrylic surface, which, in a more traditional approach, would be part of the painting’s framework. The frame is no longer a neutral element, becoming instead part of the work’s structure.
Statement
Colour has always been a fundamental element of Tassinari’s work. Putting color in a frame and through the frame inhabiting the world is then a brief description of her work’s intent. A closer relationship between the world and the frame – treating parts of the work as elements of the world, and, in this way, as tangible things – now comes into sight, as we continuously notice the presence of a work-color-world trinomial.
