Elizabeth Jobim

Bio

Born in Rio de Janeiro, 1957. The artist showcases her work since the 1980s. Jobim studied design and painting from 1981 to 1985 with Anna Bella Geiger, Aluisio Carvão and Eduardo Sued at the Modern Art Museum of Rio de Janeiro. She studied Visual Communication at the PUC-Rio, where she also, in 1989, completed her specialization in Brazilian Art and Architecture History. In 1992, Jobim completed her Master’s degree in Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts of New York. She lives and works in Rio.

Statement

The first three-dimensional elements appear in Jobim's works by 2008, when canvases blossomed to different depths, placed side by side. Since then, it is as if her works have been incessantly detached from the walls.
