Fernandez-Braso
Statement

Founded as a bookstore/art gallery by Miguel Fernández-Braso and Carmen Muro in 1971, it was one of a pioneering group of galleries in Madrid from the end of Franco’s dictatorship, through the transition and the beginning of democracy in Spain. Since the mid-1970s it has been located in Madrid’s central Salamanca district. Also known for publishing, Miguel Fernández-Braso founded arts magazine "Guadalimar", published between 1975 and 2002, which was a showcase for the Spanish art scene, as well as monographs on now well-known Spanish artists – Antonio López, Tápies, Torner and Zóbel – who at the time who at the time were practically unpublished in Spain. Today, the gallery is run by the sons of Miguel and Carmen, who continue to promote Spanish contemporary art in Spain and abroad.
