Almir Mavignier

Almir da Silva Mavignier (Rio de Janeiro, 1925 - Hamburg, Germany, 2018). Painter and graphic artist. Recognized as one of the first Brazilians to produce concrete art, began his artistic training in the courses of the Brazilian Drawing Association in 1946. In the same year, attended the studio of the Hungarian artist Arpad Szenes (1897-1985). He is also esteemed for having proposed, with Dr. Nise da Silveira (1905-1999), the use of artistic activities as a method of occupational therapy.
Statement
It is possible to identify in Mavignier's trajectory, between the figurative artist and the concrete, a path of artistic change and consolidation that results from systematic study and research in the areas of painting and graphic arts. It is from these choices that the prestige that has constantly highlighted his work results.
