Vicente de Mello

Bio

Vicente de Mello was born in São Paulo, in 1967. He lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. He graduated in Social Communication from Universidade Estácio de Sá and specialized in History of Art and Architecture in Brazil, from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro - PUC / RJ. He worked in the Photography Department of the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro - MAM-RJ, from 1989 to 1998. They have their photographic research, presented since 1992.

Statement

Adept at collecting, Vicente de Mello develops an archival technique that re-elaborates the object itself, proposing new formal dialogues, as explored in the Lapidus (2013) series, molded from his stone collection; Monolux (2017-2020), formed by his collection of <objet trouvé> and Instant Dilutions (1990-2020), formed by his collection of polaroids.
