Based in Buenos Aires, Andrea Alkalay uses photography as a medium expressive. Graduated in Industrial Design from the University of Buenos Aires, her ideas were always related to form and function, and materials as tools to underline concepts.
She thinks through photography seeking the poetic and political potential that arises from observation by exploring the medium’s ability to manipulate the perception of reality. Another line of research of her practice is travel. The condition of foreigners and displacement is her source of inspiration. She’s interested in the discrepancy between what we see and what we know. Her work is exhibited and awarded internationally.
