Statement

Linked to constructivism, the aesthetics of his modules maintain a rough and elemental character, as the form is largely based on the coarseness of the materials used. Since 1957 he begins to investigate the technique that defines his work, in which he uses pieces and metal plates to make an abstract construction of geometric balances; working directly on the metal, prioritizing a polished and oxidized finish, joining found remains to generate new compositions.
Sergio Castillo's works, mostly destined to public spaces, are based on formal researches of sculpture: principles of visual organization such as rhythm, tension, direction and dynamism.
