Franco Costalonga
Bio
(Venice, 1933) He began as a self-taught artist and later attended the Venice School of Art, subsequently becoming part of the Dialettica delle tendenze group and the Sette veneto group. He has participated in numerous international and national group exhibitions organized by the Galleria Numero, as well as in numerous group exhibitions of the Opera Bevilacqua la Masa. With the group Dialettica delle tendenze he has participated in exhibitions in Venice, Milan, Padua, Treviso, Macerata, Rome, Verona, Vicenza. In the last decade, his exhibition activity has been intense at the international level, participating in the XXXV°, XLII°, XLV°, XLVI° editions of the Venice Biennale of Art. He has received numerous awards in the field of art, design and furniture.
Statement
Franco Costalonga has been recognized as one of the most appreciated exponents of Italian programmed art and kinetic art. In his words: "the main approach I have been pursuing for years concerns the point of view. Almost all my works seen from the right or the left change, if not totally, almost. That's why I have also called them dynamic art".
Costalonga thus developed a personal investigation interested in technical and aesthetic problems at the same time, working around light, the chromatic-perceptual variations of analytically opposed modular chromo-kinetic structures, creating rarefied and suspended visions but always based on a lucid and rigorous geometric-spatial construction.
