Bio

Juan Francisco Casas (Jaen, Spain, 1976) has received numerous scholarships and awards, among which the one of the Spanish School in Paris and the Scholarship of the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome and the ABC Drawing Prize. His work is represented in the collections of ARTIUM, Museo Vasco de Arte Contemporáneo, Vitoria, Spain; Colección ABC, Colección de la Real Academia de España en Roma as well as in numerous private collections.

Statement

The hyperrealistic work of Juan Francisco Casas (Jaén, España, 1976) is based on photographic shots of the events of his day-to-day life. In hir latest projects he has turned his gaze to the work of the 17th century Italian painter Artemisa Gentileschi, reflecting on the role of women in art.
