Bio
Graduated from Art at the Edith School of Art Saachs, Lima and Sculpture at Constantin Meunier, Brussels, Belgium. She studied welding at the Creative Art Center, Dallas, USA. She has made individual exhibitions such as Ser Humano 2003 and 70 H 2 O 2005 and participated in group exhibitions and international fairs such as: ArtCartagena Ik Proyectos 2015; Art Miami 2004, 2005; Ibero-American Art Fair in Caracas, 2000; Occidiana Faire in Quedlinburg, Germany 2002; Scope Miami 2018, 2019.
Statement
Through a static object made up of blocks of transparent resin with ceramic swimmers encapsulated within María Emilia Cunliffe tries to thrill and surprise the viewer. She proposes a volumetric space that simulates the ocean and that creates emphasis through a powerful inner metaphor frozen, scenes perfectly combine a living body belonging and being one with the aquatic medium, in a full and joy fuk encounter.
