Pablo Valenzuela Vaillant
Bio
Pablo Valenzuela Vaillant (Santiago, 1964) studied engineering at the Catholic University of Chile, but for 25 years he has been working showing the natural and cultural heritage of Chile. His series of photographs highlight sectors such as Patagonia, the Andes Mountains, the north and their folkloric traditions, with an aesthetic close to minimalism and geometry. For him, photography is not only an artistic expression, it is also a means to show the value of the Chilean identity.
Statement
The formal characteristics of Pablo Valenzuela's photographs provide unusual and markedly contemporary views of the geography of Chile, with an emphasis on lighting, composition, and use of elements in a clean and precise manner. " In the series "Rapa Nui" the photographer shows a very different island, aesthetic, geometric and minimalist, with precise elements illuminated by an extreme light projected on lines and textures. His perspective is far from the obvious or purely documentary.
