Statement
statement
The work of Francisca Garriga is part of the long modern tradition of Op art, in this way, her work is characterized by the exploration of patterns, colors, lights and shadows, creating optical illusions that call into question the authority of the eye. Thus, through a sophisticated geometric abstraction, which combines both chromatic tensions and illusions of perspective, his works seek to generate perceptual responses that confuse the eye.
Text of works
I have focused on the circle and the square, whose simplicity, along with revealing its resounding perfection, brings us closer to a poetic factor that arises from that perfect world that is geometry. The amplitude of this world is reduced, in these two forms, obtaining a result that builds a tension and a dialogue, in which circle and square show their kinship with the line and seem to aspire to overflow their two-dimensionality to transform into volume.
