Magda Frank
Bio
Born in Transylvania in 1914, persecuted by the Nazis, she settled in Argentina in 1950 where her work began to be defined with a language of its own: the planes, the defined lines and the lines are increasingly accentuated; the construction is made in acute triangles, like a gothic arrow trying to free itself from earthly tragedy. In addition to having her own museum, her work is part of the Vasarely-Budapest Museum, the Oscar Niemeyer in Brazil, among others.
Statement
When, in 1954, I exhibited for the first time in the Salon of the Young Sculpture in Paris, I found that my sculpture, of a geometric and serene composition, was the only one in the midst of the other violent sculptures, gesticulating, as if it were my own person who was standing surrounded by a turbulent crowd.
