Delfina Bourse

Bio

The last year of her course of studies, she attended Carolina Antoniads’ classes. She also studied privately with Carlos Gorriarena and Tulio de Sagastizábal. She was awarded the 1st Prize in the Painting Prize of the Central Bank for artists under 35 (2010) and the 2nd Mention of the Federal Painting Contest (2013). Since 2013 she attends Lorena Vazquez’s engraving workshop.

Statement

Bourse’s work develops through physical and optical explorations of the pictorial field. She appeals to nature references, ornamental structures and the pure language of abstraction. The quality and density of materials has also a decisive role in the creation of both structure and atmosphere. In her investigation, every gesture is important- the traces, incisions, and marks carried through these actions, and even the removed parts, which are often reused later, creating alternative meanings.
