Rodrigo Mogiz
Bio
Born in Belo Horizonte in 1978 and graduated in Drawing and Painting from the School of Fine Arts of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Rodrigo Mogiz also works with curatorship and performs community works.
Since 2000 he has participated in collective and individual exhibitions throughout Brazil and abroad. As he produces his art with the intention of communicating stories through images, his embroideries have a strong and affective concept.
Statement
The embroidering overlap creates a narrative. The images are an appropriation from the media and from our contemporary universe, establishing other relationships with this form, proposing questions about beauty, body, pain, sexuality and affective relationship. [...] This makes us have a strong-themed work, pointing at wounds in a delicate way, pinning concepts and prejudices, and sewing all this with needle and thread.
