Bio
Caracas,1970. BFA, Emerson College, Massachusetts 1992. Luego en la Escuela de Arte San Alejandro, La Habana, Cuba, en el New York Studio School. 2020 recibe el Ellie Creative Awards, el ArtistGrant y una mención de honor de Fundación Long Beach Island; 2015 el Premio Latinoamericano Fundación Rozas-Botran; 2014 Primer Premio del 63º Exposición All Florida Museo de Arte de Boca Raton. Su obra: Perez Art Museum, Miami; Black Gold Museum Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; MOLA, California; UNIS Museum Guatemala.
Statement
Investigates social, economic and political issues ideologies and cultural histories under the influence of the oil industry. It uses bitumen, liquid crude oil, plastics, rubber, resin and manipulates photographic and pictorial media, creating minimalist pieces that undo selective images through reducing techniques to darken objects or surfaces; thus, he creates abstract planes like black mirrors that create literal and figurative spaces for reflection.
