Statement

The mysteries in Camilo Ortega's work come from his fascination with the immensity of his local landscape, in the Atacama Desert, versus the minuscule nature of the human being.
This attempts to revive it by creating fictional spaces and narratives accompanied by various plastic processes where low-cost materials and artisanal means of use are used.
popular. All of this means intensities linked to play and freedom as a political commitment in the face of a reality extremely fissured by the domains of reason.
“My relationship with art takes place with the possibility of imagining worlds, searching through different dimensions, elements and themes, to subvert the order of things as a response to hegemonic forces. I am interested in discovering and recognizing the irony of
everyday life, the attempts at survival and the fantasies of progress that occur in the territory that I inhabit and from where I genuinely dialogue with the world.
Between the homemade and the industrial, my objectives aim to generate dissonances about reality, provoking contradictions through images, objects and actions that allow me to symbolically communicate power as a mobilizing force of stories, and its multiple ways of violating and subduing the bodies.”
