Pedro Carneiro

Bio

Pedro Carneiro develops in his work issues related to human and racial relations in
conflict in urban spaces. It is through paintings, territorial and spatial interventions, drawings and light design that your works build an image reflecting real / unreal stories having as a starting point the reunion with their ancestry, seeking their understanding as black individual in today's society. The dichotomy is often made invisible by silence which is imposed on the black population, making them forget their joys and their AXÉ. The jobs they arise from the rupture and confrontation of the artist with visual and sound impacts.
It is through signs of pop culture mixed with images of the Afro-Latin diasporic heritage that Pedro Carneiro composes his work.

Statement

Human and racial relations in conflict in urban spaces are present in the research developed by the artist. It is through paintings, territorial and spatial interventions, drawings and light design that his works build an image reflecting real/unreal stories, having as a starting point his reconnection with his ancestry, seeking understanding as a black individual in today's society. A dichotomy is unveiled, one often made invisible by the silence that is imposed on the black population, making them forget their joys and their axé. The artwork arises from the artist’s rupture and confrontation with visual and sound impacts. It is through signs taken from pop culture, mixed with images of the African-Latin diasporic heritage that Pedro Carneiro composes his work.
