Artur Lescher

Bio

Artur Lescher (1962) is a contemporary artist that creates post-minimal installations and sculptures of architectural strength. His artworks transform the space creating new planes and engaging the viewer into different persceptives. The equilibrium of those forms is an invitation to contemplation and meditation. Lescher participated in the 1987 and 2002 editions of the Bienal de São Paulo and in the 2005 Mercosul Biennial.

Statement

Every work that I do starts from a set of formal grammatical relations: the choice of materials, the ways they relate to each other and the mechanisms they interact with. The engineering of the work is very important. This all serves a purpose that may become clear during the process of construction. The awareness that these associations evoke beyond formal relations is something that I pay close attention to, in doing the work I seek to leave the discourse clear.
