Karen Macher
Bio
Born in Lima in 1979.
Graduated from the Universidad Católica del Perú in 2003, she obtained her degree in sculpture in 2005. In 2008 the Universidad Politécnica of Valencia granted her the title of Master in Artistic Production. Until 2019 she studied for a ceramist in the workshop of Sonia Céspedes.
Her sculptures are part of collections of Germany, Argentina, Turkey, South Korea and Egypt. She has made 9 individual exhibitions.
Statement
Macher is a plastic artist trained in sculpture and ceramics but her inquires go far beyond the limits of the disciplines. Interestedin creative processes in recent years her work has adressed in environmental issues prioritizing her work in open spaces and with recycled or esayly degradable materials. Macher is interested in the public relating to the work and manipulating it.
