Bio

Born in 1957, Buenos Aires. Represented Argentina in the Mercosur Biennale (Porto Alegre in 2000, 2005), Havana (2003) and Bienalsur (2019). In 2001 received the J. S.Guggenheim Scholarship and Konex Merit Diploma Award in Mixed Techniques. In 2005, the video post-production fellowship from the Wexner Center for the Arts, Ohio. In 2012 she received the Konex Prize in Videoarte for 2002-2012. Collective exhibitions and solo exhibitions in National Museum of Fine Arts; MALBA; Museum of Modern,BA.

Statement

Materials and their physical peculiarities are prominent in the work of Silvia Rivas, which explores different media according to their metaphorical potential. Ever attentive to this implicit task, her work seeks to investigate states of being, the human condition such as it is.
