Oscar Roldán

Master in plastic arts and political science (Magister) of the University of Antioquia. As an independent artist he has made several solo and group exhibitions at national and international level, in which he has obtained significant mentions and distinctions. In addition, he has led several cultural projects of a collective nature. Since 2002 he began to develop cultural and curatorial research; Between 2008 and 2014 he worked as chief curator of the Museum of Modern Art of Medellin. In 2010 he founded the ALBO Program, a cultural intermediation platform that promotes site specific projects of young Colombian artists developed in the art gallery of Casa de la Música, in Medellín. In 2013 he was one of the five curators of the 43SNA - Saber Desconocer, held in Medellin. As a political scientist, he maintains an analysis and research activity that he presents with an interest in history and art theory in multiple publications and academic settings. The research work developed to obtain the degree of Master in Political Science is called "Art as the constituent power, ten case in the Colombian art between 1995 - 2005.”

He currently directs the Department of Cultural Extension of the University of Antioquia, where he also participates in academic processes in the area of coordination of degree and research work in the Faculty of Arts axdemasd to be the Curator and leader of "Casablanca, Museo Débora Arango.” He is an advisor to different cultural and educational organizations in the country and in Latin America. Among the most recent curatorial research projects are: “Sociales. Débora Arango llega hoy…” del artista Carlos Garaicoa and Medellín, transformación de una ciudad,” research that was presented through an exhibition and a book, and was launched at the Assembly of the Inter-American Development Bank - IDB. In 2008, upon entering the Museum of Modern Art of Medellín as its Chief Curator, he led the creation of the Department of Curatorship from where he contributed to the management of the construction of the new headquarters of the MAMM.
