Statement

I understand painting as a technique to verify my reality and my context. I define my work as a constant investigation of the landscape in all its forms and new natures. I am interested in understanding the natural landscape, understood as that which is part of a physical environment, and also that which we see through screens, analyzing the differences and similarities between the physical environment and virtual space.
I believe that the popularization of the Internet and access to technological devices has changed the way we see and interact with the world. The way we look at images and the time we spend looking at them is constantly evolving. The new ways of seeing, looking and contemplating are what inspire me to generate my work, with the intention of confirming, with my painting, the visual trends we are facing. What requirements must a landscape have in order to be considered valid as a wallpaper? In a marketing campaign, is it the landscape that sells a product?
Nowadays, we know more about the world through digital images than from our own experience. Being aware that I am part of one of the first generations that has more information at a visual level, makes me uneasy and overwhelms me at the same time. The fact of being aware is what inspires me to investigate the origins of landscape painting and its evolution from the sixteenth century to the present day.
Landscape, painting, photography and even stock images are the sources on which my pictorial work arises and evolves, keeping the restlessness of studying the iconic images that are part of the memory and the international collective imaginary.
The purpose and motivation of my research lies in understanding the conception of the contemporary landscape, from its physical nature to its digital and virtual nature today, as well as our way of relating to the landscape, its reproduction and our environment.
