Carolina Noguera
Bio
Daughter of the renowned Tobatí ceramist, Mrs. Mercedes Noguera, Carolina is also one of the most recognized artisans in Tobatí. It became famous for its black ceramic angels (an effect achieved with smoke when burning leaves or grass).
Carolina Noguera is used to hard work with clay: searching and extracting the ñaiu (black clay) and kaolin (white clay) from the quarry, bringing it home, mixing it, processing it, polishing the created object, burning it and later selling it.
Statement
The work is more than just ceramic pieces; They are witnesses of the intimate connection between the land, tradition and artistic expression itself. In each piece, the smoke leaves its mark, and in each exchange, a piece of Tobatí's rich history is shared. This work is a tribute to the opportunities of clay and a celebration of the beauty that emerges when tradition and innovation are intertwined with the hands of a passionate artist.
