Romina Casile

Bio

Romina Casile is an artist and a researcher who currently lives in Madrid. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the National University of Rosario (Argentina) and a Master's Degree in Artistic Research from the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM, Spain), where she is doing a Doctorate in Humanities, Arts and Education as a predoctoral researcher.
She took part in various exhibitions, festivals and artistic residencies in different cities of Argentina and Spain. Some of the most significant ones were: Ob Skena, Centro Huarte, Navarra (2019); Fuera-Fuera in CentroCentro, Madrid (2020); In-Sonora Festival of sound and interactive art, Madrid (2018); Manta Residency, San Martín de los Andes (2014). Moreover, she obtained various scholarships from different institutions of both countries to continue with her artistic production and research. Among these institutions, we can highlight: the National Arts Fund (Argentina, 2013, 2016); Fundación Carolina (Spain, 2018) and the Province of Santa Fe (2018). In 2014, she obtained the Second Acquisition Prize in the Itaú Prize for Visual Arts contest.
She is part of Frágil y Vulnerable, a group that promotes gatherings over artistic practices, methodologies, readings and meetings with Claudia Perez De Sanctis. Since 2020, she collaborates with the research group ARTEA Research and Scenic Creation of the UCLM. During 2021, she took part in the 12th Edition of the Artists Program of the Art Department of Torcuato Di Tella University (Argentina).

Statement

Romina Casile is an artist and researcher. Her practice is developed through experimental laboratories and collaborative configurations in order to establish dialogues, correspondences and exchanges with different interlocutors.
She is currently working with sounds, voice, listening, writing and body movement. She is interested in humming, loitering and drift as procedures and ways of exploration.
Her work is developed in different formats such as installations, performances, audios, texts, self-edited publications and workshops.
In addition, she takes part in spaces for thought where the artistic practice can be unraveled and concerns, methodologies and ways of doing can be shared.
