Statement

In Malena Pizani's work, the elements are usually basic and infallible, from an ancestral order, and their treatment is also ancestral; it fulfills the function of proposing mysterious schemes, fictions - multiplied and sober - about representation.
The feeling of symbolism that permeates the air of the work leads us to wonder about the spirits that shaped the tapestry and its plans. Masks replace faces and holes are eyes. It is the surface of a ritual that is being made of space and time, that is beginning to be instrumentalized: it loads objects, spies on images, prepares sounds, underlines sentences.
