Statement

Maíllo understands painting as an engine of thought. In combination with drawing, it helps to establish diagrams and concept maps. The painting orders the different political, social and cultural displacements, of which we are often powerless witnesses. The painting makes them legible and returns our gaze to the center of events.
In his work, ideas are related to each other, they are contagious and they promote encounters and oppositions in a dynamic way. It is these encounters that, in turn, lead him to reflect on all the stimuli to which we are subjected, sometimes so fleeting that it is difficult to recognize them.
