João Dias

Bio

Lisboa, 1983. João Dias is an artist focusing on the development of visual languages in border areas. The artist employs strategies of thinking based in traditional mediums like Painting and Drawing to explore contemporary, industrial mediums and materials. Additional relations with sculpture, architecture and archeology practices, the artist reflects on the limits of traditions. With his art works, tries to create elements that, in a certain way, represent the time consumed to be produced. These art works become potential artefacto (products or subproducts) of his own age, without any time identification. His work was presented in Munique, Berlin, Gdanzk, Barcelona, Murcia, Londres, Paris, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. Won the grant INOV-Art to Berlin, city whre he lived from 2008 to 2012.
