G. T. Pellizzi
Bio
G.T. Pellizzi was born in 1978 in Mexico. He studied philosophy at St. Johns College and graduated from the Channin School of Architecture at Cooper Union. From 2001 to 2011, Pellizzi co-founded and has participated in several exhibitions of the Bruce High Quality Foundation collective, with whom he has exhibited at the Whitney Museum of Art, the MoMA, etc. Pellizzi has collaborated on numerous occasions with the Leyendecker Gallery in both group and individual exhibitions.
Statement
The proposal of Galería Leyendecker for Pinta Miami 2020 is a solo booth with G.T. Pellizzi works: Ceramic and Lights. This work is part of an ongoing series recasting everyday plastic objects purchased from Mexican markets into vibrantly glazed porcelain. Many of these plastic objects have replaced other objects that were originally made in ceramic and other traditional materials. The title is derived from a poem by the roman poet Horace
