Hermann Schmidlin

Bio

Hermann Schmidlin (1965). Of Chilean-Swiss nationality, with Mapuche descent.
His work is in collections: National Library of France, Museum of Visual Arts of Chile, International Museum of Graphic Arts of Chillan (Chile), Fundación Arte Vivo de Colombia, Museum of Paper in Kochi.
His work has stood out for the uniqueness of his engravings and monocopies, made using his thermo-engraving technique applied to large-format tar.

Statement

Schmidlin explores art through visual, urban-primitive anthropology, where he mixes photography, digital techniques, painting and engraving. His large-format "psycho-graphic" images achieve a monumental presence.
