Statement

Adriana Bustos' approach is investigative and concerned with revisiting history and social phenomena. She finds images that incarnate matters such as colonialism and its effects, the patriarchal gaze, censorship. By re-contextualizing them through juxtaposition, she aims to question how historical knowledge is constructed and how it affects our perceptions today. Drawing is at the core of her practice, a way of changing the energetic load of the images through the intervention of the artists’ hand.
