Adriana Marmorek

Marmorek’s work investigates the “Architecture of the Desire,” an exploration of desire and pleasure using erotic, social, historical and human elements. This is an evolutionary and contemporary concept that defines the parameters of the Colombian artist’s creative activity, and constitutes a sociological analysis about desire in our world.

 For Marmorek the direct intervention of the spectator is fundamental. Objects such as mirrors, built-in rooms, windows or projections in the walls and ceilings serve as an outlet for voyeurism, vigilance, autoanalysis and introspection, and also as a converging element for centuries of artistic tradition and sociocultural assimilations. The spectators participating action contributes to the ultimate and utmost complete creation.

 In Marmorek’s brilliant career there is a clear line of work, a personal mark that evolves and flourishes around these concepts, which are fundamentally relative to the Western world’s imagination and questioning.
