Statement

Inspired by the aesthetics of 20th-century masters during his residency at the Espronceda Institute in Barcelona in 2022, Paredes returned to brushes after eight years of working exclusively on the computer. This experience led him to embrace the beauty of human error and the allure of materials. His new canvases reflect the process of time and multiple layers of work, highlighting the use of markers, graphite, printer ink, acrylics, crayons, and conte pencils.
In these large hand-painted works, Paredes aims to maintain the vectorial sensitivity as if they were a screen. In the latest series of works, he captures the intention of transforming everyday aspects into extraordinary images. He invites the viewer to see the world with fresh eyes and appreciate the beauty and complexity even in the simplest things.
